Good news for all:The X58-based motherboards as well as the Nehalem family new cpu's has been finally released on several online shopping websites (Amazon,Newegg,Tigerdirect,...)

-Asus Rampage II Extreme
-Asus P6T Deluxe OC Palm
-Asus P6T Deluxe
-MSI X58 Platinum
-MSI X58 Eclipse
-Gigabyte GA-EX58 Extreme
-Gigabyte GA-EX58 UD5
-Intel DX58SO
-EVGA X58 Sli
-Foxconn Renaissance

Finally the new technology I've been waiting for so long has been released, and this means 2 things:

- Prices of today high-end parts will drastically come down.
- We'll have to wait the first manufacturer revisions and users feedback before going Nehalem.

So I have 2 choices, either to dig deeply in my account and build an X58 based system after few months,or to go for intel Extreme CPU and a Nforce 790 Ultra system. The Core 2 Quad still have a lot to give I think, but maybe the market will follow the new trend as users tend to go for the newest technology. We'll know by Christmas.

Judging by how bad the computer industry is faring rt now, quad cores will still be in high demand and prices wont really crash. I think the core i7 will be a huge flop from Intel. There really isn't anything much to go for in it unless you want to play Crysis @ very high [and that depends if Crysis can make use of i7s looks-good-on-paper technology]

You're right about that. Just went to the market today and found the Gigabyte EX58-Extreme for....1800dhs!!!! It costs around $328 on newegg.

Well, at least the CPUs might be closer to the MSRP when they launch....

Might have to order the mobo from amazon...again...:tear:

In less than one week the EVGA X58 motherboard price dropped from 349$ to 299$ (except on amazon) even though it's out of stock everywhere and available on pre-order only.
The Patriot 6GB triple channel memory kits (1600Mhz) from 320$ to 279$,(1333Mhz) for 249$...
Crucial 6GB (1066Mhz) for 195$....

Luckyarcher I bet by Christmas it will drop 30$ more...

A japanese OC team has already taken the Core i7 965 to 5.73Ghz:
Intel Core i7 965 XE auf 5,73 GHz übertaktet - News - Hardware-Infos (anyone can translate?)

It's hard to be a PC passionate within those new technologies release periods :freak:
And the 32nm CPU's are coming by the end of 2009....

The Rampage II is a premium choice and an excellent OC'er board as per users feedback, but I advise to wait till the Nf200 Nvidia chip is implemented in late December, you will get x16/x16/x16 PCI-e 2.0 bus lanes (48 lanes) for a full 3-way SLI,not a x16/x8/x8 like now( that is if you can afford a 3 cards setup) because only 16+8+8=32 lanes are available on any today x58 board.

-Note that so far you will not see any difference in efficiency between an x16/x8 slot, but newer cards may very soon change this.Another point is that the Nf200 chip can communicate with the all three card at 16x, but the nf200 itself can only communicate with the i7 controller with the same 32 lanes ( need details and confirmation on this).

I'm waiting the EVGA X58 FTW...for a 2-way SLI + mid-level GPU for handling PhysX.

I agree on the i920 -the others are too expensive and not so much different after OC - well priced and a lot of potential (Say bye to FSB and welcome the new born QPI).

The case: a personnal choice but it will cost you the price of a Gigabyte Aurora 570 3D in shipping charges only, better buy locally, you're lucky Dubai guys.

Corsair DDR3;perfect,but look also for the Patriot kits.

3 x 9800GTX: Read the bus lanes comment above.

The Tagan is overpriced though being a reference PSU.

Barracuda: excellent reliability.

You can save around 600 bucks I think if you wait a little bit + getting full benefit from the 3-way SLI,and look for local market,so better reconsider some of items of your list, which remains a very nice selection indeed.

About waiting for a while,I totally agree with you.The right moment will be mid of next year or one year after win7 launching (hopefully next year,2009).
Local selection??Are you sure there's a computer shop in dubai that sell component close to amazon or newegg price??I'm kind a computer geek,:cool2::cool2::cool2:
