Am still combing through various updates and bits of news from last night's Spike VGA awards, where a lot of reveals came through. First up is the first video from the new Medal of Honor, (though the lead guy looks like a hobo that used to live down my street), lot of explosions and looks to be lot of cut scenes, let's see what they eventually come out with from a series that has a long history.

Second up is the Halo Reach, which unfortunately with bad sound and picture, I don't know WTF is even going on, it looks like some bad anime/fan movie. There was an announcement the other day where Microsoft's Aaron Greenberg said that Halo Reach will be the biggest game of 2010, hmmm . . . anyways . . .

Also there were mentions of sequels of Batman's Arkham Asylum, (sure to be Shaolin's favourite), and Force Unleashed 2.

If anyone has a link for the full video of the VGA awards would be much appreciated, and if I find it I'll be sure to provide it.

The Halo trailer looks so f*cked up to the point where it's not even funny.

Couldn't they put up a few explosions here and there?

"The most satisfying feel you can get in the gym is the "pump". It's as satisfying to me as "cumming" is, y'know? As having sex with a woman and cumming. So can you believe how much I am in heaven? I'm like getting the feeling of cumming in the gym, getting the feeling of cumming at home, and cumming backstage when I pump up and when I pose out in front of 5000 viewers, I get the same feeling, so I'm cumming day and night! I mean it's terrific...right?" - Arnold Schwarzenegger

I'm surprised no one's brought up the new Spec Ops game (Spec Ops: The Line) which is set in Dubai. Check out the trailer:

Actually looks pretty good.

Kind of surprised Mark Hamill didn't win, i thought his joker was brilliant in AA. Dragon Age winning was kind of expected, that game is just that good.

@Demonic, thanks for the list!

@Lightning, it was brought up earlier on a separate thread, though I'm really going to wait to see what actually materializes from it!

I have to admit I will retract my earlier comment about the Halo Reach trailer. I've watched it again on HD on youtube here, and was quite impressed. Am not sure if I agree that it was from in-game engine, though if it is it would be impressive. Halo 3's original infamous trailer was kick-ass too, (as was discussed through great lengths on this forum), but was not from the in-game engine.

The video seems to be introducing you into a squad, so not sure if it means it's going to be a squad based game. Let's see! The Bungie machine will roll on it seems . . . :Suspiciou

All of it is in-game footage from the new engine, just not in realtime.

Some Q&A from Medal of Honor Executive Producer Greg Goodrich:

Greg Goodrich, the Executive Producer on Medal of Honor, has provided answers to community questions regarding the Medal of Honor trailer.
Q: Is that all gameplay footage throughout the trailer?
A: Yep, the trailer is 100% in-game footage.
Q: Where is the “bearded guy” that is on the box cover? I don’t believe I saw him in the trailer.
A: You are correct. The character on our box cover was not featured in our first trailer. But I can confirm that he is indeed a character in our game and will be revealed (along with his highly skilled and very specialized Tier 1 unit) in the near future.
Q: What exactly is a Tier 1 Operator? And what do they do?
A: Tier 1 is a category. It is not a unit designation or a name given to a specific task force. It is a term that is used to describe the level at which these operators perform and function. It also refers to their place within the national command structure. The term “Tier 1” can also be used to describe a specific unit’s ability to carry out missions that require the most highly skilled, proficient and disciplined group of warriors within the U.S. Special Operations Community. There are only a handful of units within the U.S. Government that are considered Tier 1. We have been given the rare opportunity to work closely with members of these units during the development of Medal of Honor.
Q: There was an ATV and a helicopter scene in the trailer. Can we expect to see some vehicular gameplay?
A: That is the plan. At minimum, you can expect the ones that you saw in the trailer ;-)
Q: The ending scene with the guy with a bomb attached to him gave me chills. Can we expect this darker feel/tone throughout the game?
A: This will be the very first (M) rated Medal of Honor. However, we will always be grounded by our core tenets of authenticity and respect for the soldier.
Q: There are some doors that get kicked in during the trailer. Can we expect breach and clear gameplay?
A: The player can do many cool things in the game, and kicking in doors is certainly one of them!
Q: Are you keeping the PC community in mind for this game? Please don’t do just a simple port!
A: We take the PC version of our game as seriously as we do any other version.
Q: How much of the game is based on real life, true events in Afghanistan?
A: Medal of Honor is “historical fiction” set against the backdrop of the current war in Afghanistan. Much like “Saving Private Ryan” is a fictional story told through the lens of a small band of characters during WWII.

Im really excited about that Spec Ops game literally wasnt under my radar till saw VGA awards 2009. Thought kind of disappointed by Halo Reach, even though it was all ingame engine cutscene, I did feel there wasn't much light source available, it was just bit too dark ... then again, Ive always despised Halo series cuz of its cartoonish designed foes, this game certainly wont budge me from my mindset.

my best games of the year

1) Demons Souls
2) Uncharted 2.

weird, as these are ps3 games but thems the break.

Worst games (aka Biggest dissapoints of the year)

1) Assassins Creed 2 - i was so geared up for this but what a shocking boring and buggy game. absolutely bland and grade A terrible
2) Batman Arkham Asylum - average game with average everything and way too overhyped. Same boring formulaic gameplay - i cant be bothered even dealing with it anymore

Games im most excited about next year

1) Mass Effect 2
2) SSFIV Turbo or whatever its called
3) Fable 3 if it comes out
4) Bayonetta - gues its out today or whatever...
